WR: Lowest priced graphene

Nanotechnologist Dr T Theivasanthi of International Research Centre, Kalasalingam University, Krishnankoil, Tamil Nadu succeeded in producing the world’s lowest priced graphene, a form of carbon and a new material with many extraordinary properties such as being stronger than steel and super efficient in thermal and electricity conduction. While the high price of this carbon nano material has been holding back its usage in industries, Dr Theivasanthi’s invention has brought down the price as low as USD 30 per kg (approx Rs 2,000).
The graphene nano particle of 49 nm size (analysed from XRD test), which she developed, was measured at Central Electro Chemical Research Institute, Karaikudi on July 24, 2014 and its magnetic behaviour was analysed at SAIF, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras on August 21, 2014.
